Jacqueline (Jackie) Lomeli is a mechanical engineer in the College of Engineering at Notre Dame. She is an AnBryce Scholar, a QuestBridge Scholar, and a NASA HAS Scholar. She is interested in engineering vehicles or mechanisms for space exploration. As a result of her interests, Jackie leads a subgroup in the Notre Dame Rocketry Team that competes at the annual NASA Student Launch Competition. She is also a teaching assistant in the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering Department where she helps students with 3D printing projects.

In addition to her engineering pursuits, Jackie is passionate about engaging with the Notre Dame community through cultural activities and performances. She forms a part of Notre Dame’s Ballet Folklorico Azul Y Oro, a traditional Mexican folkloric dance. Additionally, she is the multicultural commissioner for her dorm where she creates several events throughout the year for her dorm’s residents to learn and appreciate student diversity. Apart from sharing her Mexican culture, Jackie is also interested in learning about other cultures. She currently speaks three languages (English, Spanish, and French) and is planning to learn Italian to prepare for a study abroad opportunity in Rome next year as a result of her enlightening study abroad experiences in Ireland and Spain.

Jackie received the Boren Fellowship to study Russian in the Ukraine in 2021, but was unable to complete the trip, due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

In the future, Jackie hopes to work at NASA where she can help advance human presence in outer space.

After graduation, Jackie will be a Program Assistant for the College of Engineering's Summer Study Abroad Program in Alcoy, Spain. Upon her return to the United States, she will join GE, as part of the Edison Engineering Development Program
