Melvin Pineda Miguel

Hometown:
Freehold, NJ

High School:
Freehold Township High School

Melvin Pineda Miguel is a Computer Science major on a pre med track from Freehold, NJ. In addition to being an AnBryce Scholar, Melvin is also a Mary E. Galvin Science and Engineering Scholar and a part of the Building Bridges Mentoring Program. Upon graduating from Notre Dame, Melvin plans to attend medical school. Ultimately, he wants to become a surgeon (Still deciding what specialty). Melvin believes that professionals of color are so important, especially those who have seen the institutionalized adversities that low-income minority students and families, like his own, face. In the medical field he hopes to open doors and create opportunities for the future doctors of color.

In high school, Melvin was the president of his National Honor Society chapter, president of his Spanish National Honor Society chapter, Founder of the String Ensemble club, and Drum Major of the Marching Patriots.

This year, Melvin will be a trumpet player for the Fighting Irish Marching Band. He is excited to learn more about the different clubs at Notre Dame. He also plans on shadowing a doctor for the first time.
