Carlondrea (Lala) Petty

Carlondrea “LaLa” Petty is a double major in Science Pre-Professional Studies with a supplementary Spanish. She is proud to call South Bend her native city and with that you can catch her exploring the hidden gems of South Bend. From sophomore year to junior year, LaLa has served on the Black Student Association Board where she advocates for and amplifies the voices of black students. In addition she works closely with Notre Dame International as the face of  the 2022 Mental Health Campaign where she vocalizes and works towards destigmatizing the negative attitude of overall health and wellness, especially mental health. To feed her passion for health and wellness, she is a personal trainer at the Smith Gym in the Duncan Student Center at Notre Dame, while also being the youngest personal trainer at South Bend’s Beacon Health Systems. Her ultimate professional goal is to become a bilingual pediatric or sports Physical Therapy and own her own gym called Petty Performance to uplift her familial legacy. 

Outside of campus, LaLa shadows pediatric physical therapy at Saint Joseph hospital. Within her community, she serves on the IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access) for Girls on the Run Michiana and attends many community events. In connection with her passion for health and wellness, she created a brand called “Get Fit With La” where she emphasizes the importance of finding your “fit” and increasing the awareness of mental and physical health. With this brand, she attends many community events and presents about healthy habits and holistic training.
