Eva Sophia Romero is currently an Economics major with a minor in Accountancy. She hopes to pursue a concentration in Financial Economics and Econometrics as well. In addition to being an AnBryce Scholar, she is a Sheedy Family Program in Economy, Enterprise, and Society Scholar, Cavanaugh Council & President’s Circle Scholar, Chicago Scholar, and a QuestBridge Match. She is proud to be born and raised in the City of Chicago. Furthermore, she is a first-generation U.S citizen and college student; a proud daughter of Mexican immigrants.

Dance has played a huge role in her life as she began dancing at the age of 4 in various dance styles including Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Mexican Folklorico, Hip-Hop, Pom, and many more. AtNotre Dame, she is Co-President of ND Troop Dance Team, a member of Transpose Dance Collective, and Notre Dame Tap Dance Company. She’s also had experience within the dance industry by working as a secretary and head administrator at two Chicago dance studios.

This past summer, Eva worked at Open Arms Home for Children located in the village of Komga, South Africa. This great opportunity was granted through the ND Bridge Program within the Center for Social Concerns. As a volunteer, she lived on-site which fully immersed her in the daily lives of the children at the home. Along with her podmates, they engaged in tutoring sessions, coordinated field trips, and served as mentors for 8 weeks. For Eva, the experiences this trip provided were invaluable, and she hopes to continue working with different communities to further her service.
