Lizbeth Cortez-Galindo

From the first state of Delaware, Lizbeth is a Marketing major with minors in Business Technology and Education, Schooling & Society. With interests in public policy and public service, she is most passionate about education equity and immigration reform. Lizbeth is also interested in content creation and messaging in various contexts such as social media, writing, and design.

Since her first year, Lizbeth has participated in the Indiana Driving Record Card (INDRC) project at Notre Dame and now serves as the team lead. INDRC aims to compile research for legislators on how a Driving Record Card (DRC) could positively impact the state of Indiana economically and socially. She has presented at the State House and over virtual meetings to legislators in Indiana. Furthermore, her love for music does not go unnoticed. Lizbeth is a piccolo in the Notre Dame Marching Band and has been playing the flute for about twelve years now. She is also a big fan of K-pop and is ecstatic to be studying abroad in Seoul, Korea in the Spring of 2024. Adding Korea to the list of places she has visited, Lizbeth spent the summer of 2023 studying abroad in Berlin, Germany.

In 2022, Lizbeth got to spend seven weeks in Homestead, Florida with the Balfour-Hesburgh Scholars and the Mexican-American Council. There, she mentored Latinx students and helped prepare them for college and future careers. This meaningful experience reinforced her passion for education and nonprofit work. As a first-generation Mexican-American, Lizbeth's goal is to give back to her community by creating and making resources more accessible.
