Paige Jenkins

Hometown:
McKinney, TX

High School:
Parish Episcopal School

Paige is an American Studies and English major with a strong emphasis on gender, race, and class in literature, media, and popular culture. In addition to being an AnBryce Scholar, she is also a Questbridge Scholar. She resides in Walsh Hall and enjoys being involved in the Walsh community by being a Social Commissioner for Hall Council. Paige loves how the intersectionality of American Studies and English allows her to combine her adoration for literature with historical and contemporary ideologies in America. An experience that has furthered her understanding of youth development in America, is her summer of service Homestead-Miami, Florida with the Balfour-Hesburgh Scholars Program in partnership with the Mexican American Council (2022). This experience allowed her to connect with high school students with aspirations to go to college. During her time with them she shared her journey to Notre Dame and encouraged them to follow their dreams as well. In addition to her interest in American Studies, Paige aspires to pursue global research opportunities by studying abroad. This past summer, Paige studied abroad in Rome, Italy through the Global Professional Experience program. She interned in the Historical Archives at the Gregorian Pontifical University. She worked as a Latin Transcriber for the GATE (Gregorian Archives Text Editing) database, in which she was able to transcribe ancient Latin letters written by Kircher. Paige plans to further her education by pursuing graduate school and hopes that she can continue to learn more about the world throughout her travels.

During high school Paige was involved in several service and leadership organizations. She hopes to continue her service and social justice activities while at Notre Dame. Paige loves how beautiful Notre Dame's campus is and frequently captures that beauty with her photographs. A quote that keeps her inspired and was also her high school senior quote comes from the late poet Maya Angelou, “If you’re always trying to be normal you will never know how amazing you can be.” Paige continues to embody this message throughout her college journey and looks forward to seeing where her experiences take her.
