Tia Wilson was born in Santa Clara, California but has lived most of her life in St. Louis, Missouri where her mother is from. She is a double Management and Africana Studies major with hopes to complete an International Business Certificate. Wilson is the president of the National Association of Black Accountants and is involved in other cultural clubs on campus such as Black Student Association and African Student Association. Currently, she is a Writing Center Tutor at the University of Notre Dame and she was a student aide in the Africana Studies Department. Last summer, she did an International Summer Service Learning Project in Uganda where she had a wonderful time teaching English and Dance to secondary school students in a remote village. Following her time in Uganda, she spent a month in South Africa learning about racism and apartheid in the country with a South African Notre Dame psychology professor and 15 other ND students. The summer of 2018, she worked with the Big 4 accounting firm, Deloitte, in San Francisco where she learned she was not interested in working in the accounting field. She now hopes to find a space where she can work in the intersection of business and Africa. Having spent 3 months there, Wilson realized the continent of Africa held a vast amount of untapped entrepreneurial potential and she hopes to bring her business and American background to help foster beneficial business relationships. Her goal is to be able to connect as many African entrepreneurs with the resources and knowledge they need to build their businesses as she can.
